Toledo Strengthens Local Preference Policy

On May 14, 2013, Toledo's City Council passed Ord. 233-13, to amend the Municipal Code by enacting a new local preference procurement policy. In support of the revised, stronger policy, Council noted, in the ordinance's Summary & Background section, "The City also has a responsibility to encourage the growth of local businesses" and "Enhancing the local preference components [contained in the ordinance] will serve the public interest because the growth and development of local and county businesses will have a significant positive impact on the economic heath of the City."
